How do you build a church that stands the test of time?

At Bay Area Christian Church, we believe it starts with a strong foundation built on the principles of Luke 6:47—digging deep and building on the rock. For over 30 years, we have been committed to the highest standards of financial integrity and administrative excellence.

In this video, our administrative team shares the intentional steps taken to restructure our operations from the ground up. By implementing rigorous internal controls and adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the IRS code, we ensure that every resource is managed with excellence.

The house didn’t shake… because it was well built.

Luke 6:47

Whether it’s navigating financial seasons or planning for the next generation, BACC remains committed to being a house that stands firm. We don’t take shortcuts because we believe integrity is the only way to build a lasting impact.

Jesus once said something that has always stuck with me. He described in Luke 6:47 a man building a house — and this man didn’t just build on flat ground. He dug down deep. He laid his foundation on the rock. And when the storm came, when the flood rose and the torrent crashed against that house… it didn’t shake. Because it was well built.

This scripture illustrates the importance of building the right way. There are no shortcuts.

Over 30 years ago, a new team was put together to rebuild this church’s administration — from the ground up. We took this very seriously. Through years of intentional work, we restructured and revamped our operations to put the right people in place and establish a culture of financial integrity that could stand the test of time.

That team — CPAs, an MBA, experienced professionals from the fields of management and finance built an administrative infrastructure to the highest levels of integrity and best practices. We implemented formal accounting and financial policies and procedures in the areas of budgeting, internal controls, and corporate accounting — all designed to comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, known as GAAP, and the IRS code. These are the same standards that govern the best-run organizations in the world. We chose to hold ourselves to those same standards — not because someone told us we had to, but because we believe God deserves nothing less.

Having been here from the beginning, I’m proud of what this team has built together.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the State of California, the Bay Area Christian Church is not required by law to have its finances independently audited. We choose to do it anyway.

For nearly 30 years, we have invited two of the top accounting firms in the world — PricewaterhouseCoopers and Grant Thornton — to conduct a full, independent audit of our financial statements every single year. And every year, without exception, we have received an “unqualified opinion” — the highest rating an organization can receive. That means, from a completely outside and independent perspective, our finances are reliable and verifiable.

We don’t do this because we have to. We do it because you deserve to know that your investment is being handled with the highest standard of excellence and integrity.

Beyond the audit, we actively consult with outside experts in accounting, law, and human resources to shape our policies and practices. We have built long-standing relationships with nationally recognized, independent law firms and financial advisors — organizations with no stake in our mission — who help ensure that we are operating in full compliance with all applicable laws and at the highest professional standards.

Our Board of Directors — made up of professionals with expertise in law, finance, medicine, business, and education — works with our administrative and ministry staff to make sure that the church is in compliance with all state and local laws and regulations. And our administrative team continues to grow, bringing together the next generation of talented professionals to carry this foundation forward.

Over 30 years ago, a team made a decision to build this church’s administration the right way. They dug deep. They didn’t cut corners. And because of that work, decade after decade, this church has been able to stand firm — financially, legally, and with integrity — through every season.

That’s what Jesus was describing. A house that doesn’t shake — not because the storms didn’t come, but because the foundation was solid.

That’s what we’re committed to—for God, and for each of you.
