When we try and have a relationship with God, one of the biggest decisions we must make everyday is whether to trust in people or trust in God. At times it seems easier to trust people we can see than in God who we can’t physically sense. Or perhaps we think God isn’t as reliable as people. Here are some scriptures to refocus our trust on God.

Galatians 1:10  (NLT)

10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

Colossians 3:23  (NLT)

23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

1 Thessalonians 2:4  (NLT)

4 For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.

Acts 5:29-32 (NLT)

29 But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority. 30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross.[a] 31 Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior. He did this so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven. 32 We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.”

Matthew 7:24-27 (NLT)

24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
