How do we show the world who God is? At BACC, we believe the answer is found in Acts 10:38—by “doing good.” Our annual Doing Good Fundraiser is an invitation to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of our neighbors in the Bay Area and beyond.

In this video, we share the inspiring story of Loretta and Deltrina. What started 20 years ago as a single mother’s dream to provide Thanksgiving meals in Oakland has grown into a massive community tradition at the Oak Center Cultural Center, serving hundreds of unhoused and low-income families every year.

Your donations from November 2nd to November 16th support four vital areas:

  1. E-Life: Building belonging through inclusive programs for neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals.
  2. Hope Technology School: Supporting the Bay Area’s premier inclusive private school and community partner.
  3. Benevolence: Providing a safety net for members facing emergency, short-term life crises.
  4. Disaster Relief: Rapid response and support for local and global catastrophic events.

Every donation tells someone they are seen, valued, and loved by God. Let’s make this holiday season a true reflection of the heart of Jesus.

Acts 10:38 NASB
You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

The Bay Area Christian Church believes in doing good. Jesus was known for doing good, and we believe we should follow his inspiring example by doing good for people around us too.

The Bay Area is a place of innovation, and our members regularly create new projects and initiatives to serve the community together. Find out how you can make a difference at bacc.cc/doing-good/.

This commitment is fueled by faith. For us, ‘doing good’ is a lifelong practice because we follow the example of Jesus, who went about doing good (Acts 10:38). We are fundamentally driven by the belief that it is always better to give than to receive, and that true good pleases God.

For two decades, with the help of Deltrina Johnson and many others, BACC has proudly partnered with the Oak Center in West Oakland to provide Thanksgiving dinners, serving hundreds of families every year. The Oak Center is a central hub for our community efforts, hosting not only health classes and tutoring, but also vibrant teen nights with spiritual messages, food, games, and parties for neighborhood youth.

Beyond the Thanksgiving meal, our heart for giving creates joy throughout the holidays. This year, we plan to provide toys and gift cards, bringing Christmas cheer to over 500 children on December 20th at our Annual Toy Giveaway. These vital efforts, which also include our special annual weekend trips for single parents, create memories and build relationships that last a lifetime.

This is the purpose of our annual Doing Good Fundraiser. Your donation directly fuels this impact: it allows us to support vital community partners like E-Life and Hope Technology School and invest in new initiatives.

It also supports our Benevolence Fund, which helps people in times of crisis. We work to provide aid for those in our communities facing challenging life situations.

On Nov 16th, help us continue spreading joy and igniting hope in our communities. To donate, visit bacc.cc/doing-good/.
