With the Winter Olympics in fast approach, it’s time to watch the Olympians sweat, fight, and perform their way to the top. Many of us will watch in astonishment at these athletes’ many accomplishments during the 17 day event. What many of us find even more inspiring are some of the trials and challenges these athletes have overcome on the road to greatness.
The stories of overcoming are powerful because we all face trials and challenges.
A relationship with God promises the power and ability to overcome any obstacle we might face.
The Power Within
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
When we feel like there is a mountain ahead of us like a health challenge, a difficult relationship, or an impossible class… we are filled with power from God to work through any physical, emotional, or spiritual hurdle.
What mountain are you currently up against?
37 For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment
Luke 1:37 (AMP)
Athletes invest time and effort in strenuous daily practices to increase tolerance and strength in their prospective sports. In order to feed the power within, we need to continually train our hearts. We experience the training necessary through reading and applying the word of God to our hearts and lives.
How much are you letting the bible influence your heart and life?
When we let the bible challenge our hearts–deciding to obey a scripture, exposing a part of our heart still in the dark–we let God work through us.
Jesus answered them, “I can guarantee this truth: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will be able to do what I did to the fig tree. You could also say to this mountain, ‘Be uprooted and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.
When we put our faith in God nothing we face is too big for Him. Our faith must increase in order to see beyond the mountain.
What vision do you have for the challenges you are going through? When we keep climbing the mountain with faith, we prompt others to do the same.
Who will you inspire by your faith to overcome mountains?
When we reach the top of the mountain, we can see past the circumstances and see purpose in the climb.
