It’s scary how easy it can be for me to get out of rhythm when it comes to doing good in peoples lives. One life circumstance after the next leads me to getting distracted, and more and more preoccupied with whatever my latest worry is in life.

If you feel like helping people has become less of a priority for you lately, check out these scriptures to get you inspired about doing some good in the neighborhood.

1 Peter 4:19 NIV[19] So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Galatians 6:9 NIV[9] Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

James 3:13 NLT[13] If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

James 1:27 NLT[27] Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Acts 10:38 NLT[38] And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

2 Timothy 1:7 NLT[7] For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Philippians 2:4 NLT[4] Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

2 Thessalonians 3:13 NLT[13] As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good.

Hebrews 10:24 NLT[24] Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

Titus 2:7 NLT[7] And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.

Galatians 6:1-3 MSG[1-3] Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.

Proverbs 11:25 NLT[25] The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
