About Scott

Scott brings nearly 30 years of ministry experience to his oversight of day-to-day ministry spanning from Fremont to Oakland. Scott and Messer are also the lead coordinators of all East Bay teen and college ministries.

Scott’s leadership style was forged in the high-pressure environment of elite collegiate and professional football. He played as a defensive lineman for Utah State University during the years that Gary Patterson coached there, who would later be inducted into the NFF College Football Hall of Fame. Scott not only developed his athletic skills but also learned invaluable lessons from one of the most transformative leaders in collegiate athletics.

Scott’s performance on the line earned him a selection in the Canadian Football League draft, marking the culmination of years of rigorous physical and mental discipline. From his time on the field, he learned how to execute under pressure, form collaborative teams, and develop the resilience to sustain excellence. He now channels that experience into his ministry, creating a vibrant spiritual community in the East Bay that is known for its love and social impact.

With three decades of experience, Scott’s investment in the community goes well beyond Sunday. He and his wife Messer oversee the BACC’s East Bay college and teen programs, prioritizing comprehensive character development and career readiness for young adults. His passion for inclusive sports led him to play a foundational role in launching E-Football in Oakland, a program that bridges social gaps by allowing children of all abilities to build genuine friendships through inclusive sports.

Scott is a recognized leader in violence intervention and social impact, having served on a multi-agency coalition alongside city officials and the Oakland Police Department to address systemic gun violence and public safety. By facilitating partnerships between the BACC’s East Bay campuses and the community, he mobilizes volunteer efforts to support underserved neighborhoods.
