They grow stronger and stronger with every step forward, and the God of all gods will appear before them in Zion.

Psalm 84:7 TPT

While 2021 has been filled with the many challenges that come with this pandemic, Margo and I have been so inspired by those who have had the faith to take steps forward!  It is through those individual and collective steps forward that we are able to draw strength from God. As we now enter 2022, we wanted to highlight a few inspiring, faith-filled among us who can help us all have the faith to move forward.

Second Act Cities

Instead of looking to retirement as a time to wind down and focus on individual pursuits, Rick and DK Hofstetter believe that God has much more service and impact in store for them.

Rick has described it this way, “When we retire we want to use our new wealth of time to serve others and build the church. For us, this will be our second act. Our dream is to move to an affordable city in one of the 12 Bay Area Counties where we don’t have a large church presence and use our knowledge and experience to support the efforts to build the church in that area.”

In 2021, the Hofstetters were able to take steps forward and move to the Santa Cruz area and establish a 2nd act house church in that area.  They have been busy hosting Let’s Talk Nights, doing Bible studies, and building many connections and relationships.

Christmas Impact

For the last 3 years, Tim and Kristina Wells have been working to support the Walnut Ave Family and Women’s Center in Santa Cruz. This year, they were able to team up with the Hofstetters and the rest of the group who meets for Let’s Talk at their home to provide even more support. They were very excited to adopt two families and supply everything on their wish list for Christmas!  They also helped enable the center to bring much needed Christmas love to some 56 families this year.

Stepping Forward Into 2022

As we each step forward into 2022, we can draw faith and inspiration from the Scriptures and the great examples of those detailed above. Whether we are heading into retirement, are just getting started in our teen and campus years, or are building our lives and families, God will help us to overcome all of the obstacles in our lives and chart a course of faith that leads us and others forward!

The path we walk is charted by faith, not by what we see with our eyes.
