There are so many choices we need to make in our lives everyday! Tacos or burgers? Go to bed early or stay up? What to wear?

Some choices are simple and some are more significant. This bible study will help provide simple choices that can help you take the complexity out of Christianity, because we often make it more complicated than it needs to be.

There are simple spiritual choices we can make everyday.

Simple Choice to Influence

18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

Romans 5:18-19

This Scripture is talking about Jesus and Adam. Adam took a bite of the apple and through that, brought sin to the world. Jesus sacrificed himself for others and through that, brought second chances to everyone.

What do we learn? One person’s choices can make a huge difference. We also learn that the type of person you choose to be affects all of the people around you. You can choose to influence for the good or for the bad.

Most people assume they are good and don’t realize the effect they have on other people until they look at the Scriptures and reflect on their sin’s effect on people around them. The Bible is the only way we can have a trustworthy conscience about how we treat people.

6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:6-8

Jesus was not just a nice guy. He sacrificed himself for those who didn’t deserve it. From Jesus, we learn that the best way to influence people is by doing good for for someone who we feel doesn’t deserve it or when we get nothing out of it.

Marriage is a training ground for forgiveness. Only in marriage can you have arguments that can never be won! In marriage, you have to learn to forgive even when you may feel justified in what you said and did. That is the only way to have a great relationship.

How supportive you are of your wife reveals a lot about you!

23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

Luke 9:23-24

We have the daily decision to follow God and make the same choice as Jesus did: to stop living for yourself and live a powerful life instead. We aren’t Christians just because we say we are. We must make daily decisions to choose God.

What are some ways your selfishness has gotten in the way of you choosing God everyday?

When we become Christians, we are given true life: a life to live for, a life with purpose. If we only have selfish pursuits, we will lose our life and the opportunity to make a difference.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21

We can easily feel overcome… with fear, with anxiety, with emotion. When we are overcome by evil, it can dominate our thoughts and lives.

Sometimes we feel sad about the evil in the world and on the news, or we regret the guilt of our own choices. But it’s really the daily choices we make that matter most.

How can you overcome evil with good?

Which of your relationships needs you to change?

How can you make God part of your life everyday?

17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

1 John 3: 17-18

Decide to study the Bible to learn truth about your heart and the truth about how to change. Listen to the truth of the Bible and speak the truth to each other.

How can you take action to help someone else?

We all have to make simple choices. Talk to a close friend about what your decisions you can make this week.
