Sometimes, pleasing God looks different than we think. This list of Scriptures will help us understand what makes God happy.

2 Corinthians 5:9 NLT

So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.

 1 Timothy 2:1, 3 NLT

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. This is good and pleases God our Savior,

1 Peter 1:0, 18-21 MSG

Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.

Hebrews 13:16 NLT

And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

Romans 8:8 NLT

That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

Philippians 2:13 NLT

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

1 Peter 4:19 NLT

So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.

Hebrews 11:6 NLT

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭GW‬‬

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for God’s approval. They will be satisfied.

Romans 8:5-8 MSG

Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored.

Job 11:13-20 NLT

“If only you would prepare your heart
and lift up your hands to him in prayer! Get rid of your sins,
and leave all iniquity behind you. Then your face will brighten with innocence.
You will be strong and free of fear. You will forget your misery;
it will be like water flowing away. Your life will be brighter than the noonday.
Even darkness will be as bright as morning. Having hope will give you courage.
You will be protected and will rest in safety. You will lie down unafraid,
and many will look to you for help.”
