Some of my all time favorite lyrics comes from a song by the Lonely Island guys on the Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping movie soundtrack. The song is called I’m So Humble, and while I can’t necessarily recommend watching the movie, I would definitely check out the song for choice lines like this:

Bar none, I am the most humble-est
Number one at the top of the humble list
My apple crumble is by far the most crumble-est
But I act like it tastes bad outta humbleness

“I’m so Humble”, The Lonely Island

I love the hilarious lack of self awareness in the song because it’s a good reminder for me of what I’m like when I allow myself to go too long without being influenced by God or the relationships he put in my life. These scriptures should help you reflect on your heart and start making decisions to be led by the Bible instead of your own opinions.

Colossians 3:12-14 TPT
You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. [13] Tolerate the weaknesses of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. If you find fault with someone, release this same gift of forgiveness to them. [14] For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love becomes the mark of true maturity.

Philippians 2:1-4 NIV
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, [2] then make my joy complete by being like- minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. [3] Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, [4] not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:5-8 NIV
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: [6] Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; [7] rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Proverbs 3:5-6 ERV
Trust the LORD completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. [6] With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way.

Proverbs 16:1-3 TPT
Go ahead and make all the plans you want, but it’s the Lord who will ultimately direct your steps. [2] We are all in love with our own opinions, convinced they’re correct. But the Lord is in the midst of us, testing and probing our every motive. [3] Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed.

James 4:6 NIV
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Proverbs 22:4 ERV
Respect the LORD and be humble. Then you will have wealth, honor, and true life.

Proverbs 11:2 TPT
When you act with presumption, convinced that you’re right, don’t be surprised if you fall flat on your face! But walking in humility helps you to make wise decisions.
