5 What we are telling you now is the very message we heard from Him: God is pure light, undimmed by darkness of any kind. 6 If we say we have an intimate connection with the Father but we continue stumbling around in darkness, then we are lying because we do not live according to truth. 7 If we walk step by step in the light, where the Father is, then we are ultimately connected to each other through the sacrifice of Jesus His Son. His blood purifies us from all our sins.

1 John 1:5-7 (VOICE)

4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (NLT)

Honesty is an integral part of our relationship with God, and it ultimately impacts our relationships with others as well. Honesty is a powerful tool because it creates intimacy between us and God. We need to be honest about everything – our thoughts, our actions, our feelings, and our desires. It is also important for us to be honest about who we really are without God and to remember that our sins that weighed Jesus down in order to be grateful and close to God. When we are honest and walk step by step in the light, we will be freed from the guilt of our sins.

What do you need to be honest about so that you can feel connected to God?

How could being honest improve your relationship with others?

This is a post in a series called “15 Days to Become a Force For Good,” which is a follow up to our 2017 Expo.
