And give my son Solomon an uncluttered and focused heart so that he can obey what you command, live by your directions and counsel, and carry through with building The Temple for which I have provided.”
1 Chronicles 29:19 MSG
God had incredible plans for Solomon’s life. But before Solomon could carry out God’s vision, he needed an uncluttered and focused heart. As we return to work and regular life after the Expo, our hearts can easily become cluttered by emotions, sins, guilt, and the responsibilities of life. After hearing many inspiring lessons at the Expo, one of the most important steps in making real change is getting focused. Our brains don’t multitask well – so it’s better to focus on one thing to work on than to be overwhelmed trying to change many things (and probably not changing any of them).
What things are cluttering your heart today? Make a decision to pray about these things, let go of them and practice self-control so that you can focus on your relationship with God.
From everything you heard this weekend, what is one thing you think God is telling you to focus on changing?
Write down different topics and books in the Bible related to that theme that you could study over the next several weeks and months.
This is a post in a series called “15 Days to Become a Force For Good,” which is a follow up to our 2017 Expo.
