But as the Scriptures say, “No one has ever seen, no one has ever heard, no one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”

1 Corinthians 2:9 ERV

As college students, many of us are in pursuit of doing big things in our lives. We see the need for change in ourselves, our schools, our government, our society, and our world. Yet we are often left feeling incomplete as we search for the means and inspiration to bring these changes about.

This feeling is not uncommon. As Big Sean writes in his song “Bigger than Me”:

All I ever wanted… Got it and I still felt incomplete. That’s when I realized this… was bigger than me.

This song is saying that you can get everything you want – fame, success, wealth, attention – and it could still not be enough.  We believe this is in line with what the Scriptures teach: God is the only one who can fill the hole that we are constantly looking to fill. Trying to fill this hole on our own only leads to discontentment, settling for the mundane, or living a life of endless striving.

But when we choose to pursue a relationship with God, the possibilities of what we are capable of are endless, because we are no longer relying on our own strength but on God’s.

Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!
2 Corinthians 6:11-13 MSG

At our 2018 Fall Campus Retreat, titled “Bigger Than Me,” you will learn how to live a life of true meaning, purpose, and hope. In a world where the allure of success, wealth, and fame can seem to give our lives the meaning we desire, come see how a relationship with God and living “Bigger than Me” is the true answer.
