About this video
It’s easy to get confidence and strength from what feels most comfortable: self-reliance, pride, the world and its resources, or even our own emotions. We may think that if we could just complete all our tasks, or get something we desire, or reach a certain level of achievement, we will finally feel strong. But when we rely on something other than God for strength, we always end up falling short. Something unexpected happens, someone gets what we feel we deserve, or the fun and pleasure fades. We need someone as steady and reliable as God to give us the strength we need. Though it may feel vulnerable at first, making God our strength helps us enjoy the journey we’re on, even when it’s rocky and unknown.
As we develop spiritual incrementalism — taking things on one step at a time — we can discover the life God is calling us toward.
God wants to show us the truth about ourselves so he can help us discover our purpose.
