The San Francisco Bay Area is ranked as the number one place to live in the United States by Bloomberg’s BusinessWeek. With its unique geographical landscapes, innovative atmosphere and entrepreneurial culture, San Francisco attracts a large population of brilliant and forward-thinking single professionals and young marrieds from around the world.
The Bay Area is home to some of the most highly regarded businesses in the world. Drew Houston, Co-Founder and CEO of Dropbox says, “We’re proud to call San Francisco our home; there’s no better place in the world for creative thinkers and builders.”
According to the United States Census Bureau, the San Francisco Bay Area has “the highest percentages of singles of any large city in the United States with 80% of households in San Francisco are either singles or marrieds with no children”. The founders and the workforce behind these successful companies are predominantly singles or young marrieds; for our purposes we can define them as professionals.
In recent years there has been a rise in online dating and its dependence on entering the dating scene in the Bay Area. Sam Yagan of New-York based OK Cupid says, “We have the most fans in San Francisco and probably our biggest penetration of any market”.
The challenge that professionals face is the pressure to balance a career and a personal life. The struggle is to not be defined by what you do, but putting a greater emphasis on developing the kind of person you want to become.
It is important to understand that what you value will shape the person you become. This highly influences the relationships that you build and affects the people you attract. Unless you know who you are, what you believe, and what you value– you don’t know what you are looking for.
It’s our great privilege to announce the 2013 Professionals Retreat, “Open Your Eyes”! The purpose of this retreat is to use and apply biblical principles to discover and develop into the person you are to become. There will be inspiring workshops and fun activities for single professionals, dating and young married couples and single parents. It truly be a memorable time!
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.
