What if ambition isn’t the problem, but where we aim it is?

“From the least to the greatest, their lives are ruled by greed. From prophets to priests, they are all frauds. [14] They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace.

Jeremiah 6:13-14 NLT

In a world obsessed with achievement and appearances, it’s easy to measure success by what we earn, build, or display. But these are just superficial treatments for spiritual wounds that need deeper healing. In this thought-provoking Christian Post op-ed, BACC Executive Minister Russ Ewell invites us to see ambition through a new lens—one shaped by Jesus, the most ambitious person to ever walk the earth.

The article dives into the difference between selfish ambition, which breeds disorder, and spiritual ambition, which produces peace (James 3:14-18). It challenges us to let go of the pursuit of status and embrace a mission defined by Jesus: embracing weakness, seeking God’s glory over our own, and letting our lives save and heal others, one quiet act of courage at a time.

You’ll find practical steps to redirect ambition toward what truly matters: humility, serving others, valuing character more than reputation, and trusting God at the center. Beyond inspiration, it’s a call to lead quietly but purposefully, bringing healing to a world hungry for peace and transformation.
