This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.
Colossians 1:6 NLT
Today, we have three inspiring stories for you featuring the BACC and our members. Our mission is to make God known and do good, just like Jesus did. As Colossians 1:6 tells us, hearing the Good News of the Bible changes people’s lives.
When stories about the BACC and its community partners (like E-Sports) are mentioned in the news, we want to keep you up to speed. These “hopeful headlines” reach a lot of people, inspiring them to believe in the God of the Bible and the hope he gives. That’s why we always want to keep you up to speed on the impact of the church’s message of “God and Good.”
Let’s jump into three great stories in recent headlines.
1. BACC featured as KFAX 1100’s “Church of the Week”
On Sunday, June 8, BACC was featured on Church of the Week, hosted by KFAX 1100 San Francisco. Known as “the most powerful Christian radio station west of the Mississippi,” KFAX reaches all nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area and streams online to a global audience.
This episode features an interview with Executive Minister Russ Ewell and a broadcast of one of our sermons from the Common Ground campus.
Reaching Gen Z: In this compelling interview, Russ Ewell joined host Craig Roberts to discuss the groundbreaking work BACC is doing to make God accessible—especially to younger generations. While many churches express concern over losing the battle for the hearts and souls of millennials and Gen Z, BACC sees every challenge as an opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Reaching people through digital media: Russ also discusses how BACC is leveraging technology and social media to meet people where they are—on the screens in their pockets—and to ensure that the light of God reaches every corner of the digital world.
Sermon broadcast: Following the interview, stay tuned as KFAX 1100 broadcasts a Sunday lesson from Common Ground, one of nine BACC campuses across the Bay Area. The theme of this sermon was “The Spiritual Rewiring Hypothesis: When God Becomes Your Why, You Stop Believing the Lie.” Discover how you can rewire your spiritual mindset to stay inspired, growing, and refreshed—every single day.
2. E-Sports and encouragement for fathers in The Washington Times
On June 13, The Washington Times featured a special Father’s Day article by Russ Ewell called “Help your children fulfill their potential, every day.”
As the title says, fatherhood is about helping our children reach their full potential—every day and to the best of their abilities. One powerful example of this mission is E-Soccer, an inclusive sports program founded by the Bay Area Christian Church. Born from the desire to create opportunities for all children, E-Soccer has transformed the lives of its participants and their families.
Read the article to discover how our commitment to inclusion is making a meaningful impact—and how you can be part of it.
3. BJ Jones shines a light at Cal
… Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.
Hebrews 11:34 NLT
What some might consider weaknesses turn into strengths when we have faith. A recent article in The Daily Californian—the student newspaper at UC Berkeley—featured BJ Jones, a sophomore linebacker for UC Berkeley Football and a member of the Bay Area Christian Church. BJ is embracing his neurodiversity to create opportunities for awareness and inclusion.
By sharing his journey, BJ is shining a light on the experiences of those living with neurodiversity. His story also highlights the impact of inclusive programs like E-Soccer, an initiative of the Bay Area Christian Church, and Golden Buddies, a program supported by UC Berkeley Football.
Check out these “hopeful headlines” today to build your faith about how God is moving! Then ask yourself how you can get involved. How can you meet the needs of people around you? How can you shine a light through sharing digital media, mentoring a young leader, or getting involved in an inclusive program?
As Colossians 1 says, when we share the Good News, we change lives!
‘Till next time,
