It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, which gives us the chance to celebrate the moms, mothers-to-be, and maternal figures in our lives. We put together an inspiration guide with something for everyone this weekend, from church services to a podcast about choosing to believe. Let’s dive in!

Join us for church service: “Because She Believed”

On Sunday, we will honor moms at our church services around the Bay Area. The theme for our services came from this verse in Luke 1:45:

“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”

Luke 1:45 BSB

These words were spoken to one of the most inspiring women in history—Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Mary was many things—a young and unmarried girl, a member of an oppressed group of people, and a mother to many. She was even a mother to those who were not her biological children (John 19:25-27).

But most important of all, God defined her by her faith. Mary’s belief in God allowed him to work through her in a way that changed the world, and the same is true for each of us today.

At our services this weekend, we will take time to reflect on what God can do through us as we choose to believe. Visit our locations page to find a service near you!

Celebrate the vital role of women’s ministry

Mother’s Day also gives us an opportunity to reflect on the broader impact of faithful women in all stages of life who love, serve, and minister to others.

Our Lead Women’s Ministry Leader, Gail Ewell, recently wrote about the importance of women’s ministry in an article in RELEVANT magazine titled “Women Are Most Likely to Leave the Church. How Can We Fix That?” In this article, she addressed the growing number of Gen-Z women who are “de-churching” themselves, choosing no longer to classify themselves under a specific religion.

“Women are not just a part of Christian history,” wrote Gail. “They are vital to its future.”

Scripture teaches us that women played incredible roles in history and in building the church. They supported and cared for the needs of Jesus and his followers and remained by his side throughout his life, death, and resurrection.

At the BACC, we seek to build on the teachings of the Bible to create an environment where women are recognized for their strengths and their contributions are not only supported but celebrated. Our strong women’s ministry plays a vital role in reaching women of all ages, but it’s especially important in reaching young women.

So on this Mother’s Day weekend, we celebrate not only our physical mothers but also our spiritual mothers—the women who have made a difference in our lives because they decided to love, serve, and believe in us.

Check out Gail’s article in RELEVANT magazine this weekend to get inspired about supporting, celebrating, and honoring the contributions of women in the church.

“Because She Believed”: Immerse yourself in the story of Mary

For an extra dose of inspiration this weekend, take time to listen to “Because She Believed,” a narrative podcast from Deep Spirituality about Mary, the mother of Jesus.

For obvious reasons, this story is often told around Christmastime, but we think it is much-needed all year round and especially relevant on a weekend when we celebrate mothers.

Check out this description:

Because she believed, this ordinary young woman was able to travel bravely into the unseen and played perhaps one of the most significant roles imaginable in God’s plan. Because she believed, Jesus was able to live a life that brought light to the world. Because she believed, the world was changed for the better.

So if you’ve ever asked yourself…

Does God have a purpose for me?

Does he really notice what I’m doing?

Could my life really make a difference in the world?

…then Mary’s story is for you.

Check it out this weekend—you won’t be disappointed!

From all of us to you, we hope you enjoy a weekend full of friends, family, and faith.

Until next time!
