There are spiritual lessons to be learned in every situation…what better place to learn than the basketball court?

Tonight at 4pm (PT) the up and coming New York Knicks will face off against the defending Eastern Conference Champions Miami Heat. At 6’3, two-hundred pounds, Jeremy Lin will face his toughest challenge yet: arguably the most dominant player in the NBA, Lebron James (6’8, 250 pounds).

We are reminded of one of the greatest stories of all time of courage and overcoming insurmountable odds – David and Goliath. David was just a boy watching over his sheep, unexpected by those around him to do anything great. However, God had something different in mind for him. Little did David know that he would later defy the odds by defeating a giant with just a sling and a stone.

David said to Saul,

“Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.” 1 Samuel 17:32

Like David on the battlefied, Lin has been known for his courageous tenacity on the court.
Can Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks maintain their hot-streak by conquering the commanding Lebron James and his Miami Heat? Call your buddies, order the pizza, and enjoy the contest!
