Family Matters

Recently, my wife, Judy and I have been seeing the need for more people to champion their marriages and families. In our busy lives where we find ourselves moving at such a frantic pace, it is challenging to place the efforts and priority into bringing a creative spiritual focus daily to our homes and capture the hearts of our children.

For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.
                                                                                       Genesis 18:19

There were many great things Abraham did in his life, but God was looking to see if he would champion his family. God rewarded him because his family meant everything to him! I believe today that God richly rewards those who work consistently and creatively to build a spiritual home! It is a challenge to work our jobs, carry out our family responsibilities and spend time with other Christians. We tend to separate these, but they can work together. When our kids were young and at home, we would simply include in our family dinner or devotional whoever was over at our house. Our kids would look forward to having people over by saying, “Who is coming over tonight?” It all works together when our homes are our place where we build and make priority!

Ask your spouse what would our home look like if we made more efforts to bring in inspiration and other people? What are some creative ways we can do this weekly? What other families can we learn from and imitate?
