The 2011 BACC Bay Area Basketball league Above the Rim came to a thrilling end Sunday at DreamCourts in Hayward, California. San Mateo defeated Alameda in a tough fought championship game closing the game with key layups by Many Martin, the tournament M.V.P., showing why San Mateo deserved the number one seed in the tournament. San Mateo ended the season 11-0.
Our Bay Area basketball league is described as “high-energy” and attracts teams from all over the Bay Area with the San Jose All Stars the most recent addition. Talent rich teams like the San Jose All-Stars experience high-level competition in our league because of players with Division I experience from schools like Stanford, San Jose State, and local Junior Colleges. There are others with professional experience having played abroad in places like Germany and Sweden and Israel.
The league’s reputation for its high level of competition is growing around the Bay Area. Equally awesome, however, is how our Bay Area basketball league is building family within the community. Fans from around the Bay Area come out to watch both the adult and middle school leagues play. Families come to support their middle school students and cheer on the rest of the middle school teams.
The 2011 “Above The Rim” Middle School tournament championship went to Contra Costa. In a flashy up tempo game against San Mateo, Contra Costa found a way to defend, and rebound with confidence. Tournament M.V.P Lavalle Rash was too much for San Mateo down the stretch, he hit 3-point shots to close the game out. Congratulations to Contra Costa Middle School with another undefeated season at 11-0
A special thanks to the Bay Area Community for your ongoing support making “Above the Rim” a success once again.
